  • Put down 2, 3, 5 or 10 fingers and watch the count.
  • Lines that appear where you did not touch are ghost touches.

What is a touch screen test?

A touch screen test shows exactly where your screen detects a finger. Each finger draws its own coloured line, so you can see gaps, jumps or touches that appear by themselves.

It also counts how many fingers your screen tracks at the same time. Most phones and tablets handle 5 to 10 points. It works on phones, tablets and touch laptops, and with a mouse or pen it shows a single pointer. It cannot test a screen that has no touch layer.

How to run the test

1

Clear the area

Tap Clear to start with an empty test area.

2

Draw lines

Drag one finger slowly from edge to edge, across and down, so your lines cover the whole area.

3

Add more fingers

Put down 2, 3, 5 or more fingers at once and check "Most at once". Tap Clear to start again.

How to read your results

Broken or missing line

If a line stops in the same spot each time, that part of the screen has a dead zone.

Lines you did not draw

Dots or lines that appear by themselves are ghost touches. Clean the screen and remove the case or charger, then test again.

Fewer touches than fingers

"Most at once" shows the limit your screen and browser report. Below 5 on a phone can point to a fault.

Jagged or jumping line

A shaky line drawn slowly can mean a worn digitizer, a bad screen protector or electrical noise.

Frequently asked questions

Is this test free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no app or sign-up, and nothing is uploaded.

How many touch points should my phone have?

Most modern phones and tablets support 5 to 10 points. The card shows the number your device reports.

Why does it count only one touch on my laptop?

Your screen may not be a touch screen, or you are using a mouse or touchpad, which count as one pointer.

Can a screen protector cause problems?

Yes. Thick or badly fitted protectors can cause dead zones or missed taps. Test with and without it.

Can this test fix my touch screen?

No. It only shows the problem. Restart the device, update it and clean the screen; if dead zones stay, the digitizer may need repair.
