What does the screen resolution test show?

The screen resolution test reads your display details from your browser. It shows the resolution in CSS pixels, the physical pixels (resolution multiplied by the pixel ratio), the pixel ratio, aspect ratio, colour depth, refresh rate and the size of your browser window.

The big number is the size your browser reports. On a laptop or phone with display scaling, the physical pixel count is closer to the panel's native resolution. Scaling and browser zoom change these numbers, so set zoom to 100% for the most accurate result.

How to check your screen resolution

1

Set zoom to 100%

Press Ctrl+0 (Cmd+0 on Mac) so browser zoom does not change the result.

2

Read your numbers

The test runs as soon as the page loads. No button needed.

3

Compare and copy

See how your screen compares with HD, Full HD, QHD and 4K, then copy your results.

What each number means

Resolution

The screen size your browser uses for layout, in CSS pixels.

Physical pixels

Resolution multiplied by the pixel ratio. This is usually your panel's native resolution.

Pixel ratio

How many physical pixels make up one CSS pixel. 1x is standard, 2x or 3x is a high density screen.

Aspect ratio

The shape of your screen, for example 16:9, 16:10 or 21:9.

Frequently asked questions

What is my screen resolution?

It is the big number at the top of the test, with your physical pixel count below it.

Why does it show a lower resolution than my monitor?

Display scaling (for example 125% or 150%) or browser zoom makes the browser report fewer CSS pixels. The physical pixel figure accounts for scaling.

Is 1920 × 1080 the same as Full HD?

Yes. 1920 × 1080 is Full HD (1080p). 2560 × 1440 is QHD and 3840 × 2160 is 4K UHD.

Does this test work on phones?

Yes. Phones report a small CSS resolution with a high pixel ratio, so check the physical pixels figure.
