What is a mobile screen test?
A mobile screen test shows solid colours across your whole phone or tablet screen, so you can spot dead pixels, stuck pixels, faint burn-in and tinted patches. You just open the page and tap through the colours.
It is useful when you buy a used phone, after a screen replacement, or if you think your OLED phone has burn-in. For touch problems, use the touch screen test instead.
How to test your phone screen
1
Remove the case
A case or thick protector can hide the edges of the screen.
2
Turn brightness to full
Switch off auto-brightness and dark mode filters.
3
Tap through the colours
Tap the tile to go fullscreen, then tap anywhere for the next colour. Tap × to exit.
What faults look like on a phone
Faint keyboard or status bar shapes
On OLED phones this is burn-in or image retention. Check grey and blue screens.
Pink or green tint on grey
Some tint at low brightness is common on OLED phones; strong patches are not.
Dot that never changes
A stuck or dead pixel.
Yellow or dark corners
Uneven light, or on replacement screens a lower quality panel.

Frequently asked questions
Does the mobile screen test work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in Safari, Chrome and other mobile browsers.
How do I check for burn-in on my phone?
Use the grey and blue screens at full brightness and look for shapes that stay. The OLED screen test has more screens for this.
Why is the status bar still showing?
Some phones keep it visible in fullscreen browser mode. Rotate the phone or use the full height screens and look around it.
Can this test the touch digitizer?
No. Use the touch screen test for taps, swipes and multitouch.
